Our History
As stated in R.A. 9617, also known as the Establishment of San Leonardo National High School, the first public high school in the town proper of San Leonardo came into actuality in 2016. Through the joint effort of Mayor FROILAN “ELAN” C. NAGAÑO, who donated one hectare of land as site for the school, provided two sets of free uniform and one set of P.E. uniform, and assisted students through transportation allowance; Dr. RONALDO A. POZON, DepEd-Nueva Ecija Superintendent, who untiringly supports and supervises the progress of the school; Mrs. JOHANNA N. GERVACIO, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, who initiated the birth of the school; and Mrs. EMMA O. DELA CRUZ, Officer-In-Charge of the school, SLNHS has become a great help among parents and students on making dreams possible to achieve.

The school started catering Grade 7 and Grade 8 students that totalled to 154; 106 in Grade 7 with three sections and 48 in Grade 8 with one section. With this total number of enrollees, Mrs. Emma O. Dela Cruz’s effort, along with Mrs. Rowena Sevilla, Mrs. Carol P. San Gabriel, Ms. Felina Fernandez and San Anton National High School’s School Image Dancers who all extended help during the first Saturday of May 2016, is highly commended for she was the one who did house-to-house, giving of flyers and posting of tarpaulin to encourage parents and students to enroll in the school. On the last Saturday, Mrs. Lolita P. Ramos joined the group.

At the beginning, there were only five permanent faculty members: Mrs. Lolita P. Ramos and Mrs. Rovilene M. Caymo who were originally from Mallorca National High School and were the ones to receive students who registered in the last two weeks of May and earlier days of June; Ms. Joy Anne N. Santiago and Ms. Clemencia A. Cunanan who were also from Mallorca NHS and were hired just before the class for the school year started; and Mrs. Myline M. Padolina from Bongabon National High School who joined the team in the mid of August 2016.

Housing in San Leonardo Central School, with four borrowed makeshift classrooms and initially four faculty members, difficulty arose in class schedules and shifting among teachers, given that there are also administrative tasks to accomplish. In connection with this, Mr. Severino M. Jocson, Jr., District Supervisor of San Leonardo, had observed the situation and extended his assistance with two additional teachers namely Ms. Florina C. Ramos and Mr. Reymar M. Mangulabnan as MLSB teachers.

On the other hand, while there was an ongoing bidding for the school building construction, five makeshift classrooms and three comfort rooms were built at the school site in barangay San Bartolome. This was made possible through the initiative of Dr. Ronaldo A. Pozon.

Time flies fast and yet help comes in abundance for SLNHS. In December 2016, four teacher’s tables were delivered from the municipality of San Leonardo spearheaded by Hon. Froilan C. Nagaño. While on the early January of the following year, 675 chairs were received from the Division Office.
At present, the school is continuously receiving various assistance from different people, organizations, and the community—all with one aim of improving and making SLNHS a dream shaper.
